Despite the bitter cold of the “four-nines” winter, the central control room of Hebei Guangxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is warmly cozy.
Before the massive electronic display of the automated control system, streams of data pulse like a heartbeat, silently linking every production stage in the factory. Dynamic curves and charts vividly depict every detail of the manufacturing process in real time.
“This is the fully automated, intelligent digital management platform for active pharmaceutical ingredients that we have developed. By deeply integrating process control, data acquisition, and automated control systems, we have achieved systematic and integrated process management,” said Zhang Zanyuan, General Manager of Guangxiang Pharmaceutical, as he pointed to the large display screen.
On January 17, the inaugural stop of Cangzhou City’s on-site observation tour for advancing digital transformation was at Hebei Guangxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., where participants experienced the vibrant momentum of digital transformation. In the past, a single production line might have required multiple veteran employees to rely on their experience for frequent adjustments; today, from raw-material feeding to finished-product discharge, most processes are handled by automated, digitized workflows—precise and highly efficient. This striking contrast in details left a lasting impression during the on-site visit.
The digital platform for work safety has drawn even greater attention, with key components such as risk-based tiered control and predictive equipment maintenance seamlessly integrated into the network. Powered by real-time data, the system provides proactive alerts, replacing traditional manual assessments. “Data speaks louder than experience—our safety safeguards are now much stronger!” remarked a company representative at the demonstration site.
“Production efficiency has increased by more than 40%, and our flagship product, caffeine, is now exported to over 60 countries and regions.” This remarkable achievement drew widespread praise from the business representatives in attendance. As the first company in Cangzhou to obtain carbon-footprint certification, Guangxiang Pharmaceutical has leveraged the integration of digital technologies and green manufacturing processes to secure international certifications such as the EU’s CEP and AEO, while also being recognized as a National Green Factory and a Provincial Advanced Smart Factory.
The biting cold could not dampen the enthusiasm for transformation, as members of the study tour group discussed as they walked. Guangxiang Pharmaceutical’s transformation journey has provided a vivid case study for the digital upgrade of Cangzhou’s manufacturing sector, while also reinforcing many enterprises’ commitment to the “digital empowerment” development path.
