【SUMMARY】 Recently, the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology announced the list of “2021 Provincial Technological Innovation Centers,” under which a total of 195 new centers were established across the province. Among them, the “Microchannel Continuous Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Innovation Center” of Hebei Guangxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., part of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, was selected as a newly established provincial-level technological innovation center.

Recently, the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology announced the list of “2021 Provincial Technological Innovation Centers,” under which a total of 195 new centers were established across the province. Among them, the “Microchannel Continuous Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Innovation Center” of Hebei Guangxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., part of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, was selected as a newly established provincial-level technological innovation center.

According to the briefing, provincial-level technology innovation centers primarily engage in the research and development of common, critical technologies and the integration of advanced technologies, providing mature, well-integrated technologies, standards, processes, equipment, and new products to support industrialization. They also offer open-access services, including technical consulting and training, to promote technology diffusion and the transfer and commercialization of scientific and technological achievements; attract and cultivate high-caliber professional and technical talent; and strengthen collaborative innovation through domestic and international scientific and technological cooperation and exchange. In accordance with the “Administrative Measures for the Construction and Operation of Hebei Provincial Technology Innovation Centers,” the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology will conduct regular comprehensive performance evaluations of the overall operational status of these centers, assigning performance ratings of Excellent, Good, Qualified, or Unqualified. Centers receiving an Excellent, Good, or Qualified rating will be granted differentiated post-funding subsidies from the provincial budget.

Microchannel continuous drug synthesis leverages continuous-flow microreactor technology, where diffusion and engineered flow structures generate localized vortical mixing and collisions that alter fluid dynamics, thereby enhancing heat and mass transfer rates by 1–2 orders of magnitude. This leads to improved reaction efficiency, shortened R&D cycles, and the realization of greener, safer pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

The Hebei Provincial Innovation Center for Microchannel Continuous Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology is dedicated to the development of microchannel continuous manufacturing technologies, including the design, development, and integration of microchannel continuous reactors tailored to various pharmaceutical processes. The center also focuses on developing microchannel reaction synthesis processes for a range of high-value-added products, advancing the intelligent and automated design and implementation of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, overcoming key technical challenges in drug synthesis, and accelerating the translation and application of new technologies, new products, and new equipment. By fundamentally enhancing the safety of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, the center aims to drive comprehensive technological upgrades across pharmaceutical and chemical enterprises, foster rapid growth in economic performance, narrow the technology gap with major international companies, and strengthen global competitiveness.
